Temple priest dies after ingesting fresh goat blood
ERODE: A special puja at a temple near Gobichettipalayam here, turned tragic on Tuesday, after a temple priest suddenly died during the ceremony.
The deceased was identified as S Palanisamy,45, of Kolappalur. Witnesses said when some goats were sacrificed as part of the ceremony, Palanisamy dipped bananas into the fresh blood and consumed it. While he was eating it, he collapsed suddenly. Villagers rushed him to the government hospital in Gobichettipalayam.
However, doctors declared that he was brought dead. The body was then sent for a postmortem. Further probe is on.
