PANAJI: Enforcement authorities have seized over Rs 17 crore worth of liquor, cash and narcotics substances during the model code of conduct between March 16 and April 29, the chief electoral office stated on Sunday.
Drugs worth Rs 54.6 lakh were seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau, which included 532g of methamphetamine, 500g of cannabis (33 plants) and 10g of ganja.
The police department seized drugs worth Rs 2.6 crore.
While the excise department seized 76,000 litres of liquor worth Rs 3.6 crore, the police department seized liquor worth Rs 76 lakh, besides Rs 9.3 lakh in cash.
The railway protection force seized 308 litres of liquor worth Rs 79,000. The income tax department seized cash worth Rs 4.6 crore and precious metal worth Rs 3 crore.
Goa customs seized gold weighing 549g worth Rs 33 lakh and a Thuraya satellite phone worth Rs 76,000.
The commercial tax (SGST) department seized other freebies worth Rs 1.4 crore.
