NHM computer assistant in Kurukshetra commits suicide; lady doctor, staff booked
KURUKSHETRA: The police have booked a lady doctor and some unknown staff members of the LNJP civil hospital, Thanesar, under charges of abetment of suicide as a 35-year-old man, posted as computer assistant with NHM (National Health Mission), Kurukshetra committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal Kumar of Shanti Nagar, Kurukshetra, who is survived by his wife and a minor son.

As per the information, Kamal allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at Brahamsarovar in Kurukshetra, from where he was rushed to the civil hospital and died undergoing treatment.
On the complaint of Kamal's wife, Kavita Rani, a case has been registered against a lady doctor Nitin Kumari and some unknown staff members under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kurukshetra University police station on Saturday.
Kavita alleged that the lady doctor had been mentally harassing her husband Kamal and despite repeated complaints at the office of civil surgeon, Kurukshetra, no action was taken against her.
"The doctor has been using her political approach to avoid action on her and she too visited our house and insulted Kamal. We also filed a complaint at the CM window against the accused doctor but nothing was done", said Kavita.

Meanwhile, the family members of deceased Kamal staged a protest in front of the LNJP hospital on Pipli-Third Gate road while demanding arrest of the accused doctor. The protestors blocked the road and refused to get the post-mortem done and cremate the dead body of deceased Kamal. The Kurukshetra police had to divert the traffic on the road.
The family members said that as the officials did not take timely actions on the complaint, it forced Kamal to take the extreme step adding that the entire hospital staff was aware of the harassment meted out to him.
Kurukshetra additional superintendent of police (ASP) Karan Goel reached the protest spot and managed to pacify the family members while assuring them of taking action and the kin lifted the protest and got ready for the post-mortem.
ASP Karan said, "We have assured the family members of the deceased to conduct a fair investigation and if the doctor is found guilty, action will surely be taken against her as per the law."
