Of 221 women, 10 make it to assembly

HYDERABAD: Of the 221 women candidates who contested in the Telangana elections, 10 are set to step into the assembly as MLAs. The most senior among them are former ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy (BRS), Sunita Laxma Reddy (BRS) and Konda Surekha (Congress). There are also three first-time women MLAs who will enter the house - Yeshashwani Mamidala (Congress), Parnika Reddy (Congress) and Lasya Nanditha Sayanna (BRS).

Popular among all the women MLAs is D Anasuya, who won the seat from Mulugu for a second time. TPCC former chief Uttam Kumar Reddy's wife N Padamvathi Reddy, Matta Ragamayee (Congress), Kova Laxmi (BRS) are other women MLAs.
Interestingly, Lasya Nanditha Sayanna, late MLA G Sayanna's daughter, and Sabitha Indra Reddy are the only women who have won from the city and surrounding areas.
