Naidu & Siraj rallies, rain clog city roads

Hyderabad: Hyderabad experienced severe traffic congestion after two significant rallies by Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and T20 World Cup 2024 winning cricketer Mohammed Siraj. The events drew large crowds of TDP supporters and cricket fans, causing traffic jams lasting over three hours.
From Mehdipatnam to Eidgah Maidan, where Siraj's procession passed, traffic was brought to a standstill.“I started from Mehdipatnam at 7pm and was stuck in the same place for almost an hour,” said Mohd Rizwan, a 36-year-old from Banjara Hills. “Even after vehicles started moving, the traffic crawled. I had my wife and three-year-old with me. Traffic police should have diverted traffic or made appropriate adjustments to prevent such inconvenience.”
Many took to the social media platform X to voice their frustration. User @sbraj08 tweeted, “BCCI request not to organise any roadshows after winning any cups. If anything, then organise in the stadium. See the traffic inconvenience in #Hyderabad due @mdsirajofficial rally. @HYDTP kindly consider common people who are stuck in traffic. @revanth_anumula Garu please.” Similarly, Begumpet, Punjagutta, and Jubilee Hills saw significant delays due to AP chief minister’s rally.
Shailander Jha, a 48-year-old resident of Madhapur, shared his ordeal: “I had an event to attend at 8:00 PM in Secunderabad. I started from my home in Madhapur at around 7:15 pm, but I was stuck in traffic for almost two and a half hours. I arrived at the event only after 9:30 pm. The rain exacerbated the situation, especially at Ameerpet and Begumpet square, where water stagnation added to the chaos.”
