Two arrested for shooting man dead in Dewas
Indore: Two persons were arrested on Friday for shooting dead a man over an old rivalry in Dewas. The man, Kunal Bairagi, was shot dead at Jawahar square after a fight between two groups on July 3.
“Of the three accused in the case, ---Amresh Prasad, Bhavesh Jhala and Shiv Raghuwanshi alias Krishnapal Singh--- Amresh and Bhavesh have been arrested. They were produced before a court and taken on remand for questioning.
They were planning to flee to Rajasthan when they were arrested,” Dewas SP Sampat Upadhyay said.
“Amresh and Shailendra Panwar were friends but had recently separated because of differences over money and due to power struggle. Six years ago, Shailendra, Amresh and other person had shot a trader Kamal Ahuja and a case of attempted murder was registered against them,” Upadhyay said.
ASP Jayveer Singh Bhadoriya said that on July 3, Kunal and other supporters of Shailendra had gone to district jail to meet Kunal’s brother Kapil (who is an undertrial) and entered into a dispute with another undertrial Rahul Panwar for supporting their rival Amresh Prasad. They allegedly threatened Rahul of dire consequences and while returning, stopped at house of Amresh where they threatened him as well.
“They tried to take Amresh with them in a car but he fired at them and the bullet hit Kunal in chest and he died on the spot,” Bhadoriya said.
Later, while protesting against the murder, Shailendra and his accomplices again went to Amresh’s house and fired a shot at his wife. The police registered a case of attempted murder against Shailendra and seven others late Thursday night. “Shailendra Panwar, Shubham Chouhan, Sonu Trivedi (accused in Sandeep Tel murder case), Rohit Suryawanshi and three others have been arrested and one Neeraj Verma is absconding,” Bhadoriya said.

Police recovered two pistols from possession of Shailendra and one from Anand, who is a complainant in the murder case.
Shailendra is a listed goon of Civil Lines police station area. The victim, Kunal Bairagi, had 17 cases registered against him at various police stations.
Members of Karni Sena held a protest at DSP office and submitted a memorandum to him claiming that name of Karni sena district president Vishal Singh Raghuwanshi was being dragged in the case in order to falsely implicate him. They demanded that his name be removed. State president of the outfit, Sahendra Singh said that Vishal was also the block president of BJP in Dewas. “Some people have been plotting against him and are trying to implicate him,” he told police.
The police, however, said that no direct involvement of Vishal was found in the case but it was a matter of investigation.
