BSF soldier drowns on duty at Amarnath yatra
Jaisalmer: An ASI of BSF died in Kathua village in Jammu and Kashmir while on duty during the Amarnath Yatra.
ASI Purushottam Singh, a soldier of 154th battalion of BSF Jaisalmer, died due to drowning on Saturday after his car fell into a canal. Two other BSF soldiers travelling in the car with him were injured. They have been admitted to the local hospital for treatment.
He was earlier deployed on the international border in Jaisalmer district.
An investigation has been ordered into the incident.
A squad of 154th BSF battalion has been sent from Jaisalmer which will complete all the necessary proceedings at the incident site and will transport the body of the ASI to his ancestral residence with full military honours. Singh was a resident of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. TNN
