CBI books 2 employees of gramin bank in ₹3.2cr credit card loan scam
Jaisalmer: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday registered a case against a former manager and an assistant manager of Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank in connection with a kisan credit card loan scam amounting to Rs 3.21 crore.
The suspects, identified as former manager Sheel Kumar and assistant manager Satish Nanda, were named in a report by the bank’s general manager (vigilance), Sanjeev Kumar.

An internal investigation by the bank revealed that Kumar and Nanda, while posted at the bank’s Pokhran branch in Jaisalmer district, approved KCC loans worth Rs 3.21 crore using fake land documents. The investigation found that in 2022, they sanctioned 38 fraudulent KCC loans without following proper procedures.
In April, the CBI began investigating the scam conducted raids in Pokhran city and Aaskandra village, recovering documents and fake seals from the residences of those involved in the multi-crore rupee scam. Further investigations revealed that from July 2020 to August 2022, the manager, assistant manager, and legal advisor colluded to approve loans worth crores of rupees using fake documents. An advocate who verified the authenticity of the documents and properties was also found to be suspicious, as the properties were not found in govt records.
On June 23, 2023, the bank’s regional manager, Narendra Khatri, filed an FIR after discovering that the people to whom the loans were given did not own the land mentioned in the documents.
As a result, the bank’s regional manager registered a cheating case against 11 people, including former manager Sheel Kumar, assistant manager Satish Nanda, legal advisor Vishan Singh, agent Raghunath Ram, and seven loanees at the Nachna police station.
