Jaipur: Education minister Madan Dilawar said on Sunday the govt is planning to deploy guards to protect the plants being sown across
Rajasthan as part of a state-wide plantation drive.
While addressing media in Pali district, Dilawar said that for every 200 plants, one person will be deployed to water and nourish them.
“Often due to lack of care, most of the plants do not grow into trees, so the govt is working on this plan.
On August 8, the government will celebrate Amrit Paryavaran Mahotsav. Under this, people have been called upon to plant as many trees as possible. A target of planting eight crore trees has been set in the state,” said Dilawar.
He said that vehicle owners should also aim to plant trees. “Bike owners should plant five trees, auto and car owners should plant 10 trees, those who have trucks should plant 25 trees. The beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana and other govt schemes should also plant five trees each.”
Dilawar has been visiting different districts to spread awareness about plantation of trees amid rising temperatures year after year.
“The way the earth’s temperature is increasing is a matter of concern for us. The only way to reduce this temperature is to plant as many trees as possible which will help balance the temperatures in the coming years,” he said.
