After rumour of fire, three passengers jump off train, run over by another train
DALTONGANJ: Three passengers of a coach of the Ranchi-Sasaram (up) intercity express died and at least three others were injured, one of them seriously, when the passengers were escaping following a rumour of a fire on board. While the railways said the trio died when they were hit by a goods train coming from the opposite direction as they jumped out, the Lather police said they died from the impact of their jump and not by any train hits.

According to Latehar SP Anjani Anjan, "There was no outbreak of fire in any of the coaches of the intercity express train. But there was rumour about a fire on a coach when the train was about to reach the Kumandi station of the Dhanbad railway division in Latehar district."
The rumour created panic among the passengers who jumped out. Three of them were killed while one was injured seriously, the SP said.
