BA student drowns in Jodhpur in under-construction nullah
Jodhpur : The first rain of the monsoon in Jodhpur on Thursday took the life of a young man who had come to Jodhpur to prepare for competition exams.
The victim, identified as Chhogaram (22), belonged to Shergarh and had been studying in second year of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) course.
He fell into an under construction nullah near Jodhpur Civil Airport in the evening.
The people around rushed to rescue him and took him to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Station house officer (SHO) Hanuman Singh said the young man had been living in a rented room in a house on Airport road and had been preparing for competition exams.
Jodhpur witnessed heavy rain, first of the monsoon season, on Thursday. The nullah into which the young man fell was under construction for past some time despite the looming monsoon.
The rain filled this nullah with water, which reached the level of the road. The youth could not asses the line dividing the road from the nullah and fell into it.
