Divyang teacher rides 6,200 km for disabled-friendly vehicle policy
Jodhpur: Divyang-friendly vehicles in India are still not on the cards of vehicle manufacturers despite a large number of them driving on the Indian roads. Alteration in original vehicles to suit their requirements based upon the disability is the only option left for them.
In order to spread awareness among the public and inculcate a spirit of strength and determination among the specially-abled, a 51-year-old specially-abled teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jodhpur, Jagdish Lohar undertook a solo 6,200 km journey on his tri-scooter from Jodhpur to Bengaluru, a 23 days long expedition starting from May 22.

Lohar returned to Jodhpur on Friday after successfully wrapping up this challenging and daunting expedition, filled with all odds enroute the journey. “It was a nice experience as I successfully put my point across the people I met in all the cities. It was also a proud moment to interact on the solo journey,”
Lohar also had a chance to meet the officials of the auto-maker giant TVS in Bengaluru and was also taken to the visit of their plant. “When they learnt about my motive, they realised the seriousness of the issue and took me to their plant, where we discussed the issue in detail with their assurance to look into it," he said.
