Case against dist chief: BJP protests
Thrissur: BJP activists on Saturday took out a march to the DIG office demanding withdrawal of the police move to declare the party district president K K Aneeshkumar as a person engaging in criminal activities continuously. According to BJP functionaries, the executive magistrate has already issued notice to Aneeshkumar under the Section 107 of CrPC, based on the report submitted by Thrissur East police.

According to BJP state general secretary M T Ramesh, who inaugurated the protest march, govt has taken such a measure in retaliation for the actions taken by the ED officials against the CPM district leaders. “But the CPM functionaries must realise that the cases have been registered against them for plundering the public money through the Karuvannur cooperative bank. On the other side, the cases against Aneeshkumar are for participating in political agitations. CPM should not be under the delusion that the BJP activists can be cowed down by registering such false cases. We know that the CPM camps are deeply disturbed by the victory of the BJP candidate Sureh Gopi in Thrissur. But we will continue to win more seats in Kerala,” Ramesh said.
A mild tension prevailed as the BJP activists tried to break the barricade erected by the police in front of the DIG office. Police had to use water cannons three times to disperse the protesters.
