CPM district secy slams separate Malabar state remarks
Kozhikode: The statement by Musthafa Mundupara of Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) about creating a separate Malabar state amounted to separatism and is condemnable, said CPM Malappuram district secretary E N Mohandas on Tuesday. The stand that the homeland of Malayalis should be divided is shocking, he added.
“This separatist statement provides a weapon to the majority extremist and communal forces to polarize the country. We have the experience of dividing Kashmir into three. The Kerala that we see today is the result of the struggle fought unitedly by Malayalis for decades,” he said.
Mohandas said that the argument that Kerala should be divided was undemocratic and added that Samastha Kerala Jem Iyyathul Ulama should come forward to control leaders who are raising such ‘crazy speeches and slogans’. He said that the statement only helps to sharpen the weapons which BJP has been using by portraying all minorities as separatists.
“No one will be allowed to divide the homeland of Malayalis. Strong resistance will be made against such moves,” he said.
Mohandas said that the IUML and UDF brass should clarify their stand on the demand raised by functionaries of Samastha’s frontal organization.
