KOZHIKODE: CPM's ex-MLA KK Lathika removed the controversial Kafir screenshot, which she had shared on her Facebook page just before polling day in Vadakara, and also locked her FB page. These actions happened after Vadakara Police filed a report in high court stating that it hadn't found evidence against MSF district secretary PK Muhammad Khasim in whose name the WhatsApp screenshot was circulated.

Pro-CPM Facebook pages had circulated the communal screenshot of WhatsApp post in the name of Khasim which stated that 'Shafi was a pious young man who performed namaz five times a day and the other person was a non-Muslim Kafir woman candidate and who should we vote for, Let us think and then vote'.
Lathika had shared the alleged fake screenshot on Facebook with the message, 'what kind of communalism is this? Shouldn't our land exist even after election. Don't spread such extreme communalism'. The screenshot is not available now on Lathika's page and the message by Facebook stated that 'the content isn't available at the moment. When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted'.
Khasim had approached the court alleging that a fake screenshot was being circulated in his name and that despite him filing a complaint with Vadakara Police, it failed to take effective action.
Meanwhile, Congress said there was no point in Lathika removing the communal screenshot that was circulated in the name of Khasim and asked her to reveal from where she got that fake screenshot. "What she did is a big criminal act as she knew it was a fake screenshot. She should tender an apology to the people of Kerala or CPM should disown her act. Police should not delay her arrest," said DCC president K Praveenkumar.
