Many flights between Delhi and Pune cancelled and delayed due to bad weather conditions in the national capital
Many flights between Pune and Delhi (both arrivals and departures) have been affected since Thursday morning due to bad weather in the national capital. Around four flights from Pune to Delhi have been cancelled while many delayed between 6am to 12noon, airport sources said. The cancelled flights belong to IndiGo, Vistara and Air India. In the slot between 12noon to 6pm, flights to Delhi are recording delays.

1 lakh tourists expected in Shimla for New Year: Police
Approximately 1.5 lakh tourists flocked to Shimla for Christmas, and expectations are set for around 80,000 to 1 lakh tourists to join the New Year celebrations. "Following the model of Christmas and winter carnivals, we plan to organize similar festivities for December 31st. We witnessed almost 1.5 lakh tourists during Christmas, and we anticipate a turnout of 80,000 to 1 lakh people, along with nearly 2,50,000 vehicles for the year-end celebrations," stated Shimla's superintendent of police, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi.

JN.1 prominent strain in Bengaluru wastewater samples
An ongoing multi-city wastewater surveillance study by TIGS (Tata Institute for Genetics and Society), Bengaluru has found that JN.1, a Covid-19 variant, is the predominant strain in the wastewater samples it tested in Bengaluru.

The dense fog is likely to hang over Delhi till Friday.

The city, along with a vast area of north-west India, stayed covered in very dense fog. Visibility at Palam plummeted to zero from 8am to 10 am. Safdarjung and Ayanagar too recorded very dense fog. The weather department said Thursday and Friday too could see similar conditions. The maximum visibility on Wednesday in the city was 800 metres.
