AMETHI/LUCKNOW: The Election Commission of India (EC) on March 16 announced the dates the voting and result declaration dates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The polls will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1, covering a total of 543 constituencies.

Parliamentary elections in Amethi will take place in Phase 5 on May 20, with results declared by June 4.

The Amethi Lok Sabha constituency is set to feature a three-way battle between candidates from the incumbent BJP, the Congress party and BSP.
For the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the Congress party has fielded Kishori Lal Sharma, a prominent figure in the party since 1983 who played a crucial role in Sonia Gandhi's victory in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in 1999, to challenge the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and current Union Minister for Minority Affairs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Smriti Irani. Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has nominated Nanhe Singh Chauhan as their candidate from Amethi.
