Mahayuti confident of winning Assembly polls on its schemes
Mumbai: After its ‘please all’ budget with freebies, SOPs and schemes to woo various communities, including women, the Mahayuti on Saturday held a meeting of office bearers to promote their govt schemes ahead of the assembly elections slated for Oct.
Senior ministers from Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP (AP), including CM Eknath Shinde, DCMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, were present at the meeting where they urged party workers to spread word about the schemes and indicated that the Mahayuti was going to the polls on the back of its populist schemes and SOPs.
Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Pratap Jadhav and MP Narayan Rane were also present.
“The opposition got success as they managed to create tiffs between communities. They mislead people about the Constitution. This was deliberately done, a message was spread among Dalits and tribals that reservation will go. Our positive campaign was turned into a negative campaign and we lost seats. Because of the onion export ban, we paid a heavy price, do anything, but don’t ban export of onions,” Ajit Pawar said in Goyal’s presence.
CM Shinde said Maharashtra saw a big revolt against the betrayal of voters and citizens. “BJP gave me a lot of love. This is a govt that does work, even the PM has endorsed this. We didn’t take any decision for personal gain or interest. We were complacent and we lost seats. They did 80% voting. Had we done even 60% voting we could have got 40 seats. We’re a little negative after the Lok Sabha polls but these schemes have created magic and we have shown what we can do. We will win on the basis of the schemes, so take them to the people,” said CM Shinde.
Fadnavis also told functionaries from Mahayuti to only make statements after consulting senior leaders.
“We see discord among ourselves. Today our own spokespersons are talking against each other. If anyone wants to talk, he should ask his leaders first. In an alliance all parties have to compromise. We have to fight together, we have more than 200 MLAs. We can surely win more than 200 seats,” Fadnavis said. Ajit Pawar said minorities were also scared and the alliance paid the price for it. “We have to accept what is true. But now we must correct this and expose the opposition,” he added.
