3 held for aiding Shukla after Poonekar murder
Nagpur: The Sadar police team have arrested three close aides of Hemant Shukla for helping him evade arrest for almost four months after murdering photographer Vinay Poonekar at his Raj Nagar residence on February 24. Shukla was finally nabbed from Ludhiana by Sadar police last week.
The trio, identified as Dharmendra Sharma, Abhishek Sharma and Hansraj Chauhan, had allegedly sheltered, funded and provided support to Shukla during his flight.

Shukla had shot dead Poonekar following a tiff with him revolving around their common interest in co-accused Sakshi Grover, who is now lodged in the Nagpur central jail.
While Dharmendra and Abhishek are from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Chauhan hails from Haryana. Sources said after fleeing from Nagpur, Shukla had boarded a train for Raipur but had got down at Bhandara from where Abhishek had driven him to Chhattisgarh.
Despite knowing his involvement in a murder case, the three accomplices had helped Shukla to evade arrest, said sources in the police.
Apart from arranging a rented apartment for him, Dharmendra and Abhishek also helped Shukla to dispose of the firearms used in the murder in a lake in Chhattisgarh, said police sources.
The Sadar police, under Zonal DCP Rahul Madne and PI Manish Thakare, had conducted a search in the lake for the firearms but it’s yet to be recovered.

Policde said Shukla was helped by Chauhan when he reached Ludhiana and was looking for hideouts.
Shukla and the trio were on Saturday produced before the court which remanded them in police custody for two days.
