NMC razes illegal blocks in 2 hospitals
Nagpur: After directives by the high court, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s enforcement department demolished illegal constructions in two private hospitals in Dhantoli. Both hospitals were reportedly using their parking areas for other purposes.
“The Dharampeth zone took decisive action against unauthorized construction at Neuron Hospital opposite the police station in Dhantoli on Friday.
The operation, launched on July 5, continued on Saturday, resulting in the demolition of approximately 2,000 square feet of illegal structures,” said enforcement department superintendent Sanjay Kamble.
In a separate drive, unauthorized constructions at Suretech Hospital on 13A Banerjee Road were also razed. Three illegally constructed rooms in the hospital’s parking area were demolished. Due to the extensive nature of the unauthorized constructions, the team continued to demolish four rooms at the basement of the hospital on Saturday too, said Kamble.
Locals approached the high court after internal lanes were being used for illegal parking due to the proliferation of private hospitals.
Most hospitals operating in Dhantoli and Ramdaspeth have reportedly converted parking areas in their buildings for other purposes, violating the sanctioned plan.
