Vanguard Vidarbha: Horiba gets red carpet to invest more with promise of infra & land
Nagpur: Deputy chief minister and Southwest Nagpur MLA Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday reiterated govt’s commitment to job creation and development of Vidarbha by establishing fully equipped industrial zones. “Nagpur is evolving into a city with excellent infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for global businesses,” he said. Urging Horiba to consider setting up a semiconductor project in the city, he assured them that land and necessary infrastructure had been identified.
The deputy CM also highlighted India’s rapid rise as a hub for medical tourism and semiconductors, urging Horiba to consider further investments in this sector in Nagpur.
“We are always ready to support new ventures, and I am confident Horiba’s facility in Nagpur will set a benchmark,” he stated. He assured Horiba of full government support, including provision of infrastructure for future projects. “Once you establish your presence here, all your future endeavours can be centred around Nagpur, a city that offers immense potential,” he added.
Fadnavis praised the swift completion of Horiba’s current project, recalling that he had the honour of performing its groundbreaking ceremony three years ago. “It is rare for political leaders who lay foundation stones to also inaugurate completed projects. Union minister Nitin Gadkari and I have been fortunate to experience this with several projects. I am confident that during chairman Atsushi Horiba’s next visit, we will lay the foundation for their semiconductor unit in Nagpur,” he said.
The senior BJP leader underscored the potential for Nagpur to become a significant player in the global medical tourism industry. “India is currently ranked 10th in the world for medical tourism. Through our world-class facilities and expert medical services, we are poised to offer a unique identity to the world,” he said. He highlighted that Nagpur is not just an attractive metropolis, but a city with a strong infrastructure, making it a suitable location for large-scale industrial projects.
Fadnavis concluded by reiterating state govt’s readiness to support projects like Horiba and its vision of making India a semiconductor hub. “Nagpur and Butibori are focal points in our efforts to bring semiconductor units to Maharashtra. I am confident Horiba will be the first to set up its semiconductor unit here, given their swift decision-making capabilities,” he told the Horiba chief.
In his address, Horiba highlighted the company’s commitment to contribute to India’s bio and healthcare sector. The Nagpur project, established with an
investment of approximately 200 crore, will supply essential diagnostic equipment to around 30,000 diagnostic labs across India. “We specialize in solutions and electronic chips for diagnostic laboratories, crucial in the medical field. This facility, set up on a 12acre parcel, marks a significant milestone in furthering Indo-Japanese business relations,” he stated.
Horiba emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation & excellence. “This facility is a testament to our commitment to Make in India and providing world-class medical equipment locally. Through Horiba India Technical Institute, we aim to offer comprehensive training, devpt,” he said.
