PUNE: Two men on a motorcycle waylaid, thrashed and robbed a private firm official (42) of his gold chain worth Rs50,000 near his house in Moshi on Saturday night.
The Bhosari MIDC police said the victim was returning home from a snack centre on his scooter when the duo struck in Bankar Vasti in Moshi, claiming that their relatives were unable to get a flat on rent in the society of which the victim was a president.

Sub-inspector Santosh Ingle of the Bhosari MIDC police told TOI that on Saturday evening, the victim had gone to the gym and then went to a temple. “We have recovered CCTV footage which showed the duo started following the victim from the temple,” he said.
According to police, the victim purchased snacks from a food joint. Around 9.15pm, when he reached the lane near his complex, the duo blocked his way. “One of them suddenly assaulted the victim, while the other man started beating him,” Ingle said.
“The duo then snatched his gold chain worth Rs50,000 and sped away,” he said.
