PUNE: The city traffic police will divert vehicular movement on certain routes between May 12 and 14 to facilitate preparations for voting in the Pune Lok Sabha constituency and the installation of electronic voting machines (EVMs).
In a statement issued by the deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Rohidas Pawar, on Saturday, stated vehicles plying from Jedhe Chowk to Savarkar Chowk and heading towards Puram Chowk will have to pass from Jedhe Chowk, Volga Chowk, Savarkar Chowk, and Puram Chowk.
The underpass on the Pune-Solapur road will also be closed.
The road between Jedhe Chowk and Bajaj Statue Chowk will remain closed as the EVMs and other poll materials will be brought in by a by a large number of buses, which can lead to traffic congestion at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch on May 12 from 6am to 1pm and 6pm to 12am.
Vehicles plying between Kirad Chowk and Nehru Memorial Chowk will remain close for preparations on the B.J. Medical College grounds between 12.01am on May 12 and 8pm on May 14.
