Chhattisgarh police bust another Mahadev App racket in Pune

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh capital police have arrested five persons from Pune who had links with Mahadev Reddy Anna-15 panel and were involved in cricket betting. Police said that the accused used to trap people for making easy money through betting and make them open bank accounts, which they used for huge monetary transactions without knowledge of the account holder.
Police said that they were thoroughly investigating the bank accounts used in illegal transactions of money which were now seized.
Police have seized 47 mobile phones, six laptops, tablets, bank passbooks, online betting kits and ATM cards from the possession of accused, along with Rs 12.5 lakh cash. The officials said that their phones have details of transactions worth crores and the panel was using at least 50 bank accounts for such transactions.
Based on inputs and complaints received, capital police lodged an FIR at Moudhapara police station under sections of Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act.
A complainant Dashrath Nishad of Raipur alleged that one of his known persons Mohit Vishwakarma asked to help him open a bank account in Bank of Maharashtra and using his Aadhar card, Mohit bought a sim card, the number of which he registered in the bank. He kept the bank passbook, ATM card and cheque book in his possession, police elaborated.
On April 30, Mohit told the victim that the bank account is facing issues and he wants to close it. The victim sensed something wrong in his activities and he got to know that Mohit was involved with others linked in Mahadev App and had cheated many people.
Raipur SSP Santosh Singh then formed a joint team of anti crime and cyber unit and Moudhapara police station cops and they found out that the links of accused were connected to Mahadev app panel being operated from Pune.
Police conducted a raid at a flat of Sangria Phase 3 and arrested five persons with seizure of gadgets. They confessed to operating cricket betting network via panel number 15 ID of Reddy Anna- an extension of Mahadev App.
Those arrested are Atul Bhagwan from Nagpur, Vikrant Rangare, Anshul Reddy, Devendra Kumar and Kushal Thakur, all from Durg district.
