RAIPUR: The Nijaat campaign spearheaded by Raipur Police against drugs and illicit activities has yielded remarkable results, with a substantial drop of 8% in IPC crimes compared to previous years.
There has been a notable decrease of 8% in IPC crimes, including a 4% reduction in assaults, 15% in attempted murder and murder, 40% in knife crimes, 10% in rape cases, 23% in harassment cases, and 4% in thefts.

A total of 3,682 individuals were prosecuted under the Excise Act and the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act during the five-month campaign period from February to June 2024. Of these, 451 individuals were jailed in non-bailable cases, signaling a robust crackdown on illegal activities.
512 events were conducted as part of awareness programmes against substance abuse, aiming to educate the community and deter potential offenders.
Counseling sessions for habitual substance users have been actively held in police stations, providing support and guidance to those in need.
"This year's Nijaat campaign has been instrumental in curbing crime and ensuring public safety," stated SSP Santosh Singh. "Despite an increase in overall registered crimes due to heightened FIRs in NDPS and excise cases, our focused efforts have significantly reduced serious offenses," he said.

Over 3,682 legal actions were undertaken, resulting in heavy fines under the Excise Act and stringent penalties for drunk driving offenses.
Seizures included 6,465 liters of alcohol, 1208 kg of ganja, and various other drugs, illustrating the campaign's impact in removing illicit substances from circulation.
The campaign's success is attributed to coordinated efforts across Raipur's police stations, with each station head diligently overseeing enforcement activities within their jurisdictions.
Under the vigilant leadership of DGP Ashok Juneja and oversight by IG Raipur Amresh Mishra and SSP Raipur Santosh Singh, the campaign has focused on visible policing and stringent actions against criminals.
