Unit mixing chemical with liquor busted
Rajkot: Acting on a tip-off, the Morbi police busted an illegal factory manufacturing adulterated India-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), whose consumption could prove life-threatening, in Devgadh village of Maliya taluka on Saturday.
The police arrested two brothers while six others involved in this racket are still at large.
Typically, police intercept liquor during its transported, but this discovery revealed a surprising local manufacturing operation.

“The liquor was stored in a tank of 500 litres. Some chemicals were being added to the liquor. These people had collected the empty branded liquor bottles and they were refilling them with various brands and mixes,” MP Pandya, in-charge police inspector of the Morbi local crime branch told TOI.
The police arrested Jaydeep Savseta and his brother Jayraj.
The police called in forensic science experts to determine the specifics of the substances used in the liquor. According to sources, the accused collected empty glass bottles from scrap and refilled them, adding chemicals like ethanol to increase the intoxicating effect. Police seized various branded liquor bottles, fake brand stickers, bottle covers, and a machine used to seal the bottles.
