2 men arrested in separate sexual assault cases in Kerala

T'PURAM: Fort police arrested two persons in connection with the sexual assault of a minor boy and a 39-year-old woman in two separate incidents. In the first case Chandrodayan, 45, of Kalliyoor, was arrested for sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days after being produced before the magistrate.
In the second case, police arrested Vijayakumar alias Manikandan, 55, of Kannammoola for allegedly taking a 39-year-old woman to a hotel room and sexually abusing her.He was booked under Section 376 (Punishment for Rape) of IPC. He is the second accused in the case and was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
According to police, the investigation is still in progress. They are trying to find whether more persons were involved in the crime.
Man held for extortion:
In a separate case, Fort police arrested a 22-year-old man, Pramod of Mukkolakkal for attacking a man and extorting Rs 2,300 from him on May 7 at Parambil Junction n. According to police, the accused had some personal enmity with the victim.
