Dist Judge court to hear Gyanvapi case on May 18
Varanasi: The hearing of a Gyanvapi case could not be held in the court of the district judge on Friday due to a condolence. The next date for hearing has been fixed on May 18.
The special government counsel for Gyanvapi cases Rajesh Mishra said that May 18 has been fixed as the new date for hearing as no case was heard on Friday due to a condolence.

Rakhi Singh, the plaintiff one in suit no. 18/2022 in which five women seeking worship of Shringar Gauri and other deities in Gyanvapi mosque compound, had moved her plea for the ASI survey of two closed cellars of Gyanvapi mosque, claiming that cellars including S-1 on the south side and N-1 on the north side of the Gyanpavi mosque could not be covered under initial survey of ASI as it were blocked with bricks and stones.
Singh’s advocate, Saurabh Tiwari said that the argument could not take place due to a condolence on Friday. The application for the scientific survey of closed basements was filed on February 5, in which an objection was filed by the Anjuman Intejamia Masjid Committee, and a counter objection was also filed.
Tiwari said that it is very important for the ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the closed basements to determine the religious character of the Gyanvapi complex. He said that the Allahabad High Court also underlined the ASI survey in the order passed in two cases related to Gyanvapi last year.
