VARANASI: A Varanasi court on Saturday fixed December 7 for next hearing in the case related to a petition seeking filing of an FIR against Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for their alleged remarks on claims of a purported ‘shivling’ found in Gyanvapi mosque complex.
The hearing was listed for Saturday but was deferred as lawyers abstained from judicial work.
Senior advocate Harishankar Pandey had filed a petition before ACJM-V (MP-MLA) court in May 2022, demanding filing of a case under Section-156(3) of CrPC against Akhilesh Yadav, Asaduddin Owaisi and Anjuman Intejamia Masajid (Gyanvapi mosque management committee) saying their remarks on the purported ‘shivling’ were objectionable.
The ACJM-V court on November 15, 2022, had declared the petition maintainable, but rejected it in February this year. Thereafter, Pandey filed a revision petition before the court of district judge in March. Later, the revision petition was transferred from district judge court to the court of additional district judge.
