20-year-old hacks parents and sister to death with axe in UP's Azamgarh

VARANASI: Sensation prevailed in Dhandhari village under Kaptanganj police station of Azamgarh district when a 20-year-old youth Rajan fled after brutally killing his father, mother and minor sister with an axe.
The incident came to light when bodies of Bhanu Pratap Singh (48), his wife Sunita Singh and their daughter Rashi Singh (13) were found lying in a pool of blood in their house on the Dhandhari village outskirts on Sunday morning.

SP Azamgarh Anurag Arya said that on the basis of initial investigation of police it came to light that Rajan had attacked his parents and sister with an axe and fled the scene after hacking them to death. Two teams under ASP (rural) have been formed to investigate the matter for finding out the reason behind the killings while three teams have been engaged for early arrest of Rajan, he said adding that bodies had been sent for postmortem examination.
On the complaint of Bhanu’s brother Bhupati Singh, a named FIR was lodged against Rajan in this connection. During investigation, Bhupati and villagers informed the police that Bhanu had got a new house constructed along the road leading to Dhandhari village and started living there with his wife, son and two daughters. Bhanu’s one daughter Rani Singh (15) had gone to the place of her relatives. On Saturday night, Bhanu had scolded Rajan over some issue and it is suspected that upset over the same he brutally murdered his parents and sister and fled the scene.
While passing through Dhandhari road the villagers could not see any member of Bhanu’s family till late morning despite the doors of the house opened. When they went inside the home to check they found the bodies of Bhanu, Sunita and Rashi lying in pool of blood on their beds. After this they raised an alarm and alerted the police.
On being informed, the Kaptanganj police reached the spot while IG Azamgarh range Akhilesh Kumar, Arya and other officials also reached the spot. Forensic experts and dog squad were also called there and following initial investigation the bodies were sent for postmortem examination.
