VIJAYAWADA: A 19-year-old

Jammu. The girl allegedly eloped with her boyfriend (21) and they stayed in Jammu.

She urged him to intervene in finding her daughter.
Police formed special team to trace girl who went missing 8 months agoPawan directed the police to speed up the investigation and take immediate action to trace the girl.
Speaking to TOI, Vijayawada police commissioner PHD Ramakrishna said the girl went missing from Vijayawada about eight months ago. Though the police registered a missing case following a complaint from the parents of the girl, there was not much headway in the investigation. "We recently formed a special team to solve the missing case. The team started working on all the leads after visiting a few cities and collected clues from people at the place from where she went missing. One clue helped the investigating team to visit Jammu. The missing girl was in Jammu, where she was found with a youngster (boyfriend) on June 1. The girl is safe," Ramakrishna said.
As the girl is not a minor, police will not register a kidnap case against her boyfriend (who is a neighbour of the girl and her senior in the college). "We will record the statement of the girl and her boyfriend and will decide on further action in the case," the police commissioner added.
AP police spoke to their counterparts in Jammu and have asked the special team from the state to bring the girl and her boyfriend to Vijayawada. The efforts of the police have brought relief to the girl's family, which has been waiting anxiously for her safe return. Police said they will verify the background of the girl's boyfriend.
