New roles for volunteers soon, says Pawan

Vijayawada: Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, who joined the NTR Bharosa pension distribution program in Pithapuram assembly constituency on Monday, said they have shown that pensions can be distributed smoothly without volunteers. Pawan distributed pensions to several beneficiaries, including the elderly and disabled, at Gollaprolu. “The state govt plans to employ volunteers for administrative purposes rather than door-to-door activities. Guidelines for this new role will be issued shortly,” he said.
Criticising the previous YSRCP govt for financial inefficiency and misusing public funds, he said his mission is to ensure that all people get access to protected drinking water in the state. “We should have developed villages in every district. The govt plans to spend 600 crore on the project. The previous govt used the same money to construct a huge palace atop Rishikonda hill in Visakhapatnam. YSRCP leaders claim they constructed it as a tourism project to host international guests. But providing basic infrastructure is very important. I am against wasting public money,” the deputy CM said.
To demonstrate financial prudence, Pawan said he has directed authorities not to buy any new furniture for his office. “Officials approached me to pay my salary. I have made a decision not to take a salary. The financial situation of the state is precarious, everyone should join hands to develop the state,” he added.
On his mission to improve drinking water access for people, Pawan said the NDA govt at the Centre is giving top priority to drinking water supply and implementing the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ scheme. “The YSRCP govt wasted central government funds as it failed to release matching grants. We will focus on utilizing every single rupee from these grants to provide safe drinking water to villages. Through these measures, we aim to enhance governance and ensure optimal use of resources for public welfare,” he explained.
