Free power supply and meters to PVTG villages
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (EPDCL) is providing new electrical lines and free electricity meters to tribal villages in Alluri Sitaram Raju district, according to CMD Prudhvi Tej. This initiative is part of the central government’s Vikasit Bharat scheme, which aims to improve the living conditions of the tribal communities.

Prudhvi Tej, along with Vizag circle superintendent engineer (SE) L Mahendra Nath and other engineers, visited various Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) villages in Araku Valley mandal, including Chittamgondi, Nandiguda Colony, and Adapavalasa. They inspected the electrification works being carried out under the Prime Minister Janman scheme.
The EPDCL has set a goal to provide power supply to 1,474 PVTG villages at an estimated cost of Rs. 33.49 crore. After conducting surveys, the discom officials identified 271 villages that lack the minimum electricity facility. Under the PM Janman scheme, each PVTG family will receive a free electricity meter and 200 units of power. Approximately 8,819 tribal beneficiaries are expected to benefit from this free electricity facility.
