RTC fleet to include electric buses soon

Visakhapatnam: State road transport, youth and sports minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy announced that the RTC fleet will be equipped with electric buses within the next five years, with assistance from central govt. The corporation also plans to expand its cargo and courier services.
The minister pledged to make the state accident-free with the cooperation of all stakeholders. He stated that approximately 1,400 buses will be added to the RTC fleet in the near future, with the goal of making the corporation profitable through reforms.
During his visit to Maddilapalem RTC depot in Visakhapatnam on Monday, Ramprasad Reddy inspected the facilities and flagged off three super luxury services to Prodduturu, Tirupati, and Amalapuram. He also felicitated 20 outstanding employees from various departments, including drivers, conductors, vigilance, and security.
The minister emphasised govt's responsibility to safeguard the RTC.
"The govt would induct sufficient number of buses while introducing free bus services for women. We would judiciously utilise the RTC properties to bring profits to the corporation. Govt is always ready to address the rightful demands of the workers," he said.
Ramprasad Reddy further stated that workers and passengers are equally important to the RTC. He assured that govt would provide health insurance to the workers and improve services for the passengers. He highlighted that the RTC would prioritise commercial policies and enhance its services.
