Tirupati circle inspector implicated as accused number two in ring theft
Visakhapatnam: In a case of gold ring theft, Tirupati circle inspector Maheshwar Reddy has been implicated as accused number two. According to sources, a gold ring weighing 36 grams, prepared with the photos of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and minister Nara Lokesh, was stolen in September last year. Jayaram Reddy, the ring’s owner and a TDP leader, immediately filed a police complaint.
Police identified the accused, an employee of a restaurant, through CCTV cameras installed there.
Circle inspector Reddy made the accused roam around the station for three days without registering a case against him. Jayaram, the victim, alleged that Reddy handled the matter negligently. Even after the victim filed a complaint with the district SP, no action was taken. Jayaram then filed a private petition in court, resulting in the court instructing police to implicate Reddy as A2. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. TNN
