Nippani is an assembly constituency located in the Belagavi district of Karnataka. The constituency is situated in the northern part of the state and is bordered by Maharashtra to the north.

The Nippani assembly constituency has a total of 2,20,337 registered voters as of 2021.
In the last assembly elections, the BJP’s Shashikala Annasaheb Jolle won against Congress’s Kakasao Pandurang Patil by a margin of around 8,500 votes.
The upcoming elections will again see Jolle go up against Patil.

The Nippani constituency is part of the Chikkodi parliamentary constituency.

The Election Commission has announced that single-phase polls will be held in Karnataka on May 10. The results will be declared on May 13.

In the 2018 assembly polls, the state threw up a fractured mandate with BJP emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats. The Congress won 87 seats while the JD(S) won 30.
The BJP managed to form the government only after several MLAs from the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition joined the saffron party.
The BJP faces anti-incumbency in a state where no party has won consecutive terms in over 20 years. The Congress is banking on BJP’s “incumbency burden” and is confident that the corruption charges against its opponent Basavaraj Bommai will stick.
