Like many others in Kannada cinema,
Anitha Bhat thought that 2020 would be a good year for her. She had a handful of films lined up for release, after all. But the pandemic ensured that that was not to be. “Now that theatres are functional again, I am hopeful that they will all release soon,” says the actress, who shot for the rowdyism-based film
Balepet in the post-pandemic new normal.
“It was, no doubt, a strange experience, shooting while trying to ensure the safety of everyone on set. But I was glad to be back working,” says Anitha, who is now all set to head to Hyderabad for her first-ever Telugu film,
Krishna Lanka. “My
Telugu debut is, incidentally, also a rowdyism-based movie, which has Paruchuri Ravi in the lead and me a pivotal role. The character is that of a commercial sex worker, who is rescued by the hero and ends up being by his side. The film is being directed by Karthikeyan. I am joining the team today and will be there till the end of February,” she explains.
