Is Mammootty - Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming film delayed?

The highly anticipated collaboration between Malayalam cinema megastar Mammootty and acclaimed filmmaker-turned-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon has reportedly encountered a delay. The duo is teaming up for two projects: the action thriller 'Bazooka' and an untitled Malayalam film, which will mark Gautham Vasudev Menon’s directorial debut in the Malayalam film industry.

Originally slated to commence filming on June 15, 2024, according to OTT Play’s reports, the untitled project has now been pushed back. The first schedule is now expected to begin in the first week of July 2024. Initially, Chennai was chosen as the primary filming location, but the makers have since finalized Kochi for the shoot.

The untitled film, touted to be a dark crime thriller, promises to feature a stellar cast, including prominent names from both the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. This project is set to showcase Mammootty in a leading role, with a newbie actress reportedly cast as the female lead.
Meanwhile, Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon are also sharing the screen in 'Bazooka,' another highly-awaited action thriller. The duo’s collaboration has piqued the interest of cinephiles. Despite the delay, anticipation for the untitled film remains high.
On the other hand, Mammootty’s recently released action flick ‘Turbo’ has now crossed Rs 33 crores from the Indian box office. The movie is expected to mint more numbers in the coming days.
