Mollywood director Venugopan passes away at 67

Mollywood is mourning the loss of acclaimed director Venugopan, who passed away at 67. His funeral rites are scheduled for today, June 21, at 8:30 pm. Venugopan's illustrious career includes several superhit films like ‘Sharja to Sharja,’ ‘Swarnam,’ and ‘Kusruthi Kurup.’ Beyond these successes, he contributed as the second unit director to classic films such as ‘Njan Gandharvan,’ ‘Innale,’ and ‘Season,’ among others.

Mollywood mourns the loss of acclaimed director Venugopan, who passed away at the age of 67. The revered filmmaker's funeral rites are scheduled to take place on this day, June 21, at 8:30 pm.

Venugopan's career is studded with several superhit films, including ‘Sharja to Sharja,’ ‘Swarnam,’ and ‘Kusruthi Kurup.’ His contributions extended beyond these notable works, as he also served as the second unit director for classic films such as ‘Njan Gandharvan,’ ‘Innale,’ and ‘Season,’ among others.

The director's last directorial venture was ‘Sarvopari Palakkaran,’ starring Anoop Menon. The movie revolves around the life of Jose, a Circle Inspector of Police, Special Branch from Trissur, who is in search of a suitable bride. The movie also featured the actors Aparna Balamurali, Anu Sithara, Gayathri Arun, Alencier Ley Lopez and many others in pivotal roles.
Following Venugopan’s passing, Anoop Menon expressed his sorrow on social media. On his official Facebook handle, the actor shared a heartfelt note: “Adieu Venu etta...a beautiful soul, a wonderful friend, a genuine filmmaker...the fun-filled times we spent shooting 'Sarvopari Palakaaran' will forever remain in all our hearts.”
Venugopan is survived by his wife Latha, children Lakshmi and Vishnu Gopan, and son-in-law Raveesh.
