The upcoming film 'Indian 2' is all set for its release in theatres on July 12 and the makers launched the trailer of the movie in Mumbai last evening. Directed by Shankar, the film stars Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar and SJ Suryah among others in lead roles and the music for it is composed by Anirud Ravichander.
The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Speaking at the trailer launch, actor Siddharth said that the film is not just a pan Indian project but a pan global. He noted that even before the trend of these pan Indian films started, Kamal Haasan produced the film 'Apoo Raja' in Hindi and it ran in theatres for more than 100 days and mentioned that Kamal Haasan made it as a pan Indian star then.
"When I came here for 'Indian 2', everyone was telling me that some South Indian film promotion is going on. It is not a South Indian film, in fact it is pan India. If the movie was just related to south India, it could just be titled South Indian and not Indian and not Bharateendu or Hindustani. The film is taken in such a way that everyone can relate to it and not just south Indians," Siddharth added.
'Indian 2' is the sequel to the cult classic action drama that was released in 1996 and Kamal Haasan returns to the big screen as he reprises his role as Senathipathi, a freedom fighter who is against corruption. The trailer launch happened in a grand manner yesterday and it has been receiving mixed review from audience.
