People mostly think that to grow and propagate a plant they will have to dirty their hands in mud and soil. But, this isn't true at all! There are certain houseplants that can grow in water and do not require any soil. Here we list some of them.

Spider plants are famous for their air-purifying properties and easy care. And the best of all, they can even grow and be propagated in just water, with no mud or soil. When grown in water, spider plants develop long, arching leaves.

Lucky bamboo is believed to be a symbol of good fortune and prosperity in many cultures. The plant of lucky bamboo grows great in water, and grows with tall stalks filled with lush green leaves.

Pothos is another great plant that can be grown solely in water. When placed in a deep bowl filled with freshwater, pothos vines spread around gracefully, with their heart-shaped leaves.

Snake plants, with their striking upright leaves, also are known for their air-purifying abilities. Cuttings of Snake plant can be dunked in a water bottle or bowl and with time new roots will start growing.

One of the most aesthetic and beautiful plants is Monstera. It has large, glossy leaves, and while typically grown in soil, Monstera can also grow well in water with proper care. Just make sure there is no algae buildup in the water and vessel.

Chinese evergreen

A beautiful plant with typical green leaves but a boundary of pink on the leaves is the Chinese evergreen. When grown in water, this plant continues to grow from the stem and even gives a few off shoots from the root.
