NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team's recent T20 World Cup triumph has sparked nationwide celebrations, with their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi being a highlight of their victory tour.
On Thursday morning, the team, led by captain Rohit Sharma and accompanied by head coach Rahul Dravid, met with the Prime Minister at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.

The meeting was a significant event, reflecting the nation's pride in their cricket heroes, and the players spent about two hours with the Prime Minister, discussing their victory and sharing their experiences from the tournament.

"What a great honour meeting our honourable prime minister shri narendra modi ji today @narendramodi. Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime ministers residence," wrote Kohli, expressing his gratitude and excitement on Instagram.

Earlier in the day, the team's arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport was met with enthusiastic fans, despite tight security measures.
Two buses were stationed outside the T3 Terminal to transport the players to the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel. Upon arrival, the team was greeted with vibrant traditional Bhangra dancers and dhol performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.


Several players, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant, joined in the dancing, creating a memorable and joyous experience for everyone involved. The celebratory mood extended even to the on-duty security personnel, who were seen enjoying the festivities.
The team then participated in a cake-cutting ceremony prepared for their arrival, interacting with the crowd and sharing the joy of their World Cup victory. Following their meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the team returned to the airport to depart for Mumbai. In Mumbai, they are scheduled to participate in a victory parade and a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, where fans will have the opportunity to celebrate their triumph up close.
