NEW DELHI: Friday night's New Year's Revolution episode of WWE SmackDown witnessed a substantial surge in viewership, marking a significant rebound for the show. The episode, which aired on Fox, averaged an impressive 2.465 million viewers. This reflects a remarkable 81.9% increase from the previous week's Best of 2023 show and a notable 16.9% rise from the last live episode two weeks ago.
This recent episode stands out as the highest audience total for SmackDown since September 15, a date etched in memory when The Rock made a surprise appearance on the show, adding an element of nostalgia for fans.
In terms of the coveted 18-49 demographic rating, SmackDown achieved a commendable 0.67. This indicates a staggering 132.1% surge from last week's best-of episode and a substantial 17.9% increase from two weeks ago. Notably, this is the most substantial 18-49 rating for SmackDown since the aforementioned September 15 episode.
The show's dominance extended to topping all of network television in the 18-49 demographic, more than doubling the rating of the second-place show. While SmackDown typically secures the top spot in the 18-49 demo on Fridays, it has traditionally ranked lower in terms of total viewership. However, this week, it claimed the second spot, just behind ABC's 20/20.
Comparing the current week to the same period in 2023, SmackDown exhibited a robust growth of 9.2% in total viewers and an impressive 26.4% surge in the 18-49 demographic.
The viewership totals and 18-49 ratings for the last 11 weeks of Fox airings of SmackDown, along with the 10-week averages in both categories, underscore the recent episode's exceptional performance. The latest show surpassed the recent averages by 17.9% in the 18-49 demo and 15.6% in total viewers, affirming its resurgence in popularity and audience engagement.
