In today’s fast-paced world, dining out or ordering in has become an essential part of our daily lives. Whether it’s a quick bite from your favorite food truck or a lavish meal from a high-end restaurant, we expect our food to be safe, hygienic and tasty. However, what happens when the food you ordered falls short of these expectations?
In recent news, a doctor who ordered ice cream online found a human finger in it.
Similarly, a dead lizard was reportedly found in soup ordered from a restaurant. And, it’s limited to this, users report such incidents via social media platforms on a daily basis.
So, from undercooked dishes to finding foreign objects in the meal, food safety issues can pose serious health risks. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to address these problems.
In this guide, we will walk you through the process of filing a complaint with the government to ensure that your concerns are heard and addressed promptly.
What do you need
This goes without saying, but you will need proper proof of the complaint you are registering.
Make sure to take necessary pictures for the complaint to help with the investigation.
Start with registering complaint on the app
The first step should be to report to the food delivery app or service from which you’ve ordered the food. You can head to the app's Order section and select the order from the list. Then, you can choose the ‘Help’ option.

Note that different apps have different layouts. All you need to do is try and find the ‘Help’ option within the app and then report the issue to them with photos, videos and other necessary details.
You can report to the Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) and register a complaint to the consumer helpline. Here’s how it’s done.
