Higher education and medical education ministers met with KUPECA to discuss a 10% fee increase for engineering and architecture seats in private colleges for 2024-25.

The government sanctioned 138 higher secondary batches (120 in Malappuram, 18 in Kasaragod) to address seat shortages. General education minister V Sivankutty announced this after a two-member committee's report and June 25 talks with student unions. The Rs 14.9 crore plan adds temporary Humanities, Commerce, and Science batches across 92 government schools in both districts.
