Indian space startups Dhruva Space and Bellatrix Aerospace have successfully tested their P30 satellite platform and high performance green propulsion systems, respectively, on board the last stage of the pslv-C58 rocket, which doubled up as an experimental platform, also called pslv Orbital Experimental Module (POEM), in space. The pslv-C58 rocket’s fourth stage was activated in space after the rocket, launched on January 1 from Sriharikota, completed its primary mission of launching main satellite X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSAT) into its desired orbit.

For the students and staff of K J Somaiya Institute of Technology in Mumbai, the New Year's day will mark the beginning of their journey towards the stars. The reason: when the four-stage pslv lifted off at Sriharikota at 9.10 am, the rocket's fourth stage called POEM (pslv Orbital Experimental Module) had a satellite designed and developed by students and faculty of the institute. Named 'Somaiya BeliefSat-0', it is the second satellite to fly from Mumbai, the first one being Pratham of IIT-B which was launched on September 16, 2016.

Isro Friday said it has successfully tested a futuristic fuel cell based power system that could help power the proposed space station while also holding the potential for significant societal applications. The “100W class Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell based Power System (FCPS)” was tested in space on the pslv Orbital Experimental Module or POEM, launched onboard pslv-C58 on January 1. Fuel cell is an ideal power source for the Space Station as it provides both power and pure water.

Spacetech startup Dhruva Space announces successful space qualification of P-30 satellite platform, gearing up for first commercial mission LEAP-1 in Q1 2024. Qualification of LEAP-TD payload mission enables provision of hosted payload solutions in global market. LEAP-TD mission, launched on pslv-C58, integrated P-30 nanosatellite platform to enable in-orbit scientific experiments. Mission validates various subsystems of P-30 platform. This achievement boosts confidence of Dhruva Space's customers for upcoming satellite missions.

On New Year's day, students and staff of K J Somaiya Institute of Technology witnessed the launch of a four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (pslv) from Sriharikota. The rocket's fourth stage, called POEM, carried the satellite 'Somaiya BeliefSat-0', designed and developed by the students and faculty of the institute. This satellite, weighing 440 grams, aims to provide global communication for ham operators and fill the gap left by India's decommissioned hamsat in 2014. The project, started in 2018, promotes student curiosity and engagement in radio frequency communication and space technology.

Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launches pslv-C58 carrying XPoSat and 10 other payloads. XPoSat is India's first scientific satellite for polarisation measurements of X-ray emissions from celestial objects. The launch took place at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. XPoSat was placed in a 650km orbit and later reduced to a 350km circular orbit for orbital platform experiments. The mission aims to measure polarisation of X-rays from cosmic sources and improve scientists' understanding of black holes and other celestial objects. The launch also carried 10 other payloads from various organizations.

The mission aims to validate the functionality of Dhruva Space's P-30 nanosatellite platform and its sub-systems in orbit. Dhruva Space will collaborate with IIST for telemetry, tracking, and command activities. This mission will pave the way for full-fledged hosted payload solutions for future space missions, showcasing Dhruva Space's readiness to offer services to its customers.

Spacetech startup Dhruva Space is set to launch its Leap-TD mission onboard ISRO's pslv-C58 Sriharikota on January 1, 2024. The mission aims to validate the functionality of Dhruva Space's P-30 nanosatellite platform and its sub-systems. Dhruva Space's P-30 platform is designed for low earth orbit operations and will enable future satellite missions. The startup will collaborate with the Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology for TT&C activities. This launch signifies Dhruva Space's commitment to delivering full-stack and hosted payload solutions to customers.

Isro plans six pslv missions, three GSLV launches, and one commercial mission of Launch Vehicle Mark-3 in 2024. Additionally, Isro will launch a technology demonstration satellite on the third development flight of its newest launch vehicle SSLV. Two unmanned missions under the Gaganyaan program are also planned to validate the human-rated launch vehicle and the orbital module. Multiple sub-orbital missions will be conducted to validate the Gaganyaan Crew Escape System. Isro will also perform two autonomous runway landing experiments and launch the GSAT 20 communication satellite through a commercial contract by NSIL.

Come January, a petite European spacecraft, christened “Bikini,” will hitch a ride aboard India’s trusted pslv, soaring to a staggering altitude of 500km before making a re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere and plunging into the deep sea.

Four Indian space startups, Dhruva Space, Bellatrix Aerospace, InspeCity Space Labs Private Limited, and TakeMe2Space, will launch their payloads on Isro's pslv-C58 mission. Dhruva Space's payload will validate the functionality and robustness of the P-30 nanosatellite platform. Bellatrix Aerospace will test its Rudra 0.3 HPGP thruster and ARKA-200 hollow cathode. InspeCity Space Labs will test the Green Impulse TrAnsmitter (GITA). TakeMe2Space will test its Radiation Shielding Experimental Module (RSEM). These payloads will be placed in a low earth orbit for experiments.
