Did you know? Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's new Tapu aka Nitish Bhaluni's paycheck is same as Raj Anadkat's but higher than Bhavya Gandhi
Few daily soaps on Indian television have captured the audience's imagination as much as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). For almost 15 years, the show has been a fixture in Indian households, offering limitless amusement and becoming a vital part of viewers' daily lives.
The cast has evolved throughout time, with new actors taking on classic parts and introducing new nuances to cherished characters.
One such notable alteration has been the character of Tapu, who was originally played by Bhavya Gandhi, then by Raj Anadkat, and is presently represented by Nitish Bhaluni.
Bhavya Gandhi, who joined TMKOC in 2008 as the original Tapu, swiftly rose to become one of Indian television's highest-paid child performers. His portrayal of Tapu received tremendous acclaim, and at his peak, Bhavya allegedly earned Rs 10,000 every episode, a large sum for a kid artist.
His career lasted until 2017, when he opted to leave the character and seek other acting possibilities, leaving a hole to be filled by someone with comparable charisma and talent.
In 2017, Raj Anadkat took over the mantle of Tapu. Stepping into an already popular and established part was no simple task, but Raj made his mark by bringing his unique personality to the character. His pay mirrored the prominence of his part on the show, with sources stating that he earned Rs 20,000 every episode—twice what Bhavya Gandhi earned. This significant increase emphasised the show's continuous success and the critical position Tapu played in its plot.

Raj continued to amuse audiences until 2022, when he chose to try new genres and acting roles. His departure also occurred after rumours of conflicts with the production team over unpaid dues.
Nitish Bhaluni took the responsibility for carrying on Tapu's legacy in 2023. With large shoes to fill, Nitish stepped into the role and brought his own spin on the iconic character. According to sources, Nitish's compensation is the same as his predecessor, Raj Anadkat, who earned Rs 20,000 every episode. This parity in salary demonstrates the show's commitment to upholding the high standards established by past actors, as well as the character's centrality in TMKOC's storytelling. Despite the changes, the show's ability to maintain its audience and prolong its successful run demonstrates its quality and the talent of its cast and staff.
