Builder Boys Movie Review : A fresh concept presented with entertaining performances

    Critic's Rating: 3.5/5
Synopsis- What does one need to become a builder? One would say money and land. No, it’s people’s trust, say the Builder Boys. A broker and a civil engineer are on a spree to become builder boys. Their first project is redeveloping an old building with residents facing lots of issues. The movie revolves around how the boys try to incorporate a huge list of demands of the residents and compete with an established builder, leading to an entertaining journey.

Story- Viraj, a broker, is on a constant urge to become a builder alongside his ‘bhailu’ Chinmay, a civil engineer. While their dreams are big, they lack funds to start an entire new project. Viraj’s manifestation leads to them getting into redevelopment of an old building, Adhikham Flats. Both Viraj and Chinmay try adhering to all weird demands of the residents leading them to hilarious situations. While the work is going well, there is also a superstitious real estate tycoon who considers that building as his lucky charm and is ready to go to great lengths to get it.

Review-A feel-good film with an untapped topic comes like a breath of fresh air amidst the various thriller and suspense movies that were released back-to-back recently. Builder Boys is a family entertainer. Writer and director Chanakya Patel, who also made Chabutro in 2022, surely has a knack of tapping the underrated yet important topics and showcasing them in a subtle, yet impactful way. The film doesn’t take long to establish the main plot showcasing a defined role for each character.

Raunaq Kamdar as Viraj is in his OG element after long and gives an impactful performance. Esha Kansara as Divya, a resident and Viraj’s love interest, has nicely portrayed her character, especially a scene where she convinces her father for redevelopment. Shivam Parekh (as Chinmay) has a bright future ahead of him, who delivers both comedy and serious scenes effortlessly. It is fun to see Shekhar Shukla, known for his comic timing as Nandan, as the superstitious real estate tycoon. The rest of the cast as the residents of Adhikham Flats- Bhavini Jani, Kalpana Gadgekar, Premal Yagnik and others-create the perfect chaotic situations leading to hilarious moments throughout the film. The music by Siddharth Bhavsar is energetic and refreshing.

While some parts of the movie are predictable, the climax had the audience clapping for the characters. If you are looking for a fun family entertainer amidst the plethora of action and suspense shows and films, this movie can be a good option.
