Smriti Irani, who is an actor turned politician, faced a significant defeat in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency against a Congress party candidate by a large margin of votes on Tuesday. Despite the electoral loss, she received support from her family and close friends, including actor Mouni Roy. Smriti took to Instagram after losing the seat to express her gratitude to those who stood by her.

Her post garnered supportive comments from friends and fans, including Mouni, Neena Gupta, and Sonu Sood. Mouni Roy, her co-star from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, left a supportive comment with a red heart emoji, expressing that she is always with Smriti. Neena Gupta encouraged Smriti to keep working hard, while Sonu Sood showed his support with a red heart emoji.

Smriti wrote, “Such is life... A decade of my life going from one village to another, building lives, nurturing hope & aspirations, working on infrastructure -- roads, naali, khadanja, bypass, medical college and more," Smriti wrote. She continued, “To those who stood by me through loss and victory, I am forever grateful. To those celebrating today, congratulations. And to those asking, 'How's the josh?' I say- it’s still high, Sir.”
Aashka Goradia also stood by Smriti, emphasizing that nothing can hinder her from doing good and sending her full power. In the election, Union Minister and BJP candidate Smriti Irani lost to Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Kishori secured a significant victory by defeating Irani with over 1.67 lakh votes.
Irani received 3,72,032 votes, while Sharma garnered 5,39,228 votes, according to the Election Commission. The BSP candidate received 34,534 votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Smriti gained prominence by defeating senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, earning the title of 'giant killer.' She won by a margin of 55,120 votes, securing 4,68,514 votes compared to Rahul Gandhi's 4,13,394 votes. Gandhi had previously held the seat since 2004.
