Congress on July 16 announced its unequivocal opposition to the Delhi Ordinance. Commenting on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s allegations of the Congress high command compromising the interests of Punjab and Delhi units with their move to oppose the Delhi Ordinance, party President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the decision doesn’t concern only a single individual. “This is not about just one person. If the democracy and Constitution of the country suffer a blow, it becomes our responsibility to unite and work together to save democracy and the Constitution. No individual is bigger than the country,” said Kharge on July 17.
